The Pediatric Section Research Group (PSRG) is a collaborative research initiative of the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery designed to expand and streamline participation in high-quality multicenter research. Building on the success of existing collaborative networks and the strong interest among Pediatric Section members in consortium-based research, the PSRG provides an organized framework for pediatric neurosurgeons to pool expertise, share infrastructure, and develop studies that address clinically important questions that are difficult to answer at a single center.
At the core of the PSRG are specialty-focused Research Interest Groups (RIGs), each centered on a major pediatric neurosurgical domain: Chiari, Craniofacial, Epilepsy/Functional, Hydrocephalus, Neuro-Oncology, Spine, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Vascular. Through regular virtual meetings, in-person sessions, and a structured project proposal process, the RIGs are intended to help members generate research ideas, leverage existing registries and collaborative networks, develop new multicenter projects when needed, and align research priorities with the needs of patients and families. Together, the RIGs aim to foster a collaborative culture within the Pediatric Section and accelerate impactful research to improve care for children with neurosurgical conditions
