Sanjiv Bhatia Pediatric Neurosurgery Global Fellowship

The Joint Pediatric Neurosurgery Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons offers the Sanjiv Bhatia Pediatric Neurosurgery Global Fellowship for senior residents and pediatric neurosurgery fellows in accredited North American neurosurgical training programs.  The fellowship stipend is $5000 and is intended to give the recipient experience in performing surgery and research in a global setting. Preference will be given to applicants going to a training program in a Low- and Middle-Income Country (LMIC)*. Fellowships are awarded based on a competitive evaluation by a committee of the Joint Pediatric Section.  Successful applicants will present data from their research collaboration at the pediatric section meeting the year following completion.

The application must include:

  • Name, current training program & training year.
  • Project mentors**, proposed site and travel dates.
  • A statement that includes reason for participating in this fellowship and how it will enhance pediatric neurosurgical training and a plan for a research project that involves collaboration with the host institution.
  • Written permission from the applicant’s residency program director.
  • A letter of acceptance from host pediatric neurosurgical program.

 The deadline for application submission is October 31st.
